Weather of the Week
Monday is mostly clear, which is good for the rare solar eclipse. Warm this week, mainly in the mid-60s. Tuesday runs towards a chance of 70 degrees. A storm system moving its way across the US will bring rain and potentially thunderstorms late week, especially Thursday and Friday. A rollercoaster of weather to mark the end of school before break.
What’s Going On in the Weather World?
Two rare things strike the northeast: A rare total solar eclipse and at least 3 earthquakes of magnitude 4.0+. The solar eclipse will commence in Western Massachusetts at approximately 2:13 pm ET, but the peak is at 3:30 pm. We should see about 85% totality, whereas our neighbors to the north in Vermont are in full totality. An earthquake struck Friday in Northern New Jersey, accompanied by multiple aftershocks, three of which were 4.0+ on the magnitude scale. The earthquake was felt as far as Albany, NY and Boston. No injuries or major damage were reported.
