Well, did you know that a speech was written for President Nixon to deliver had the Apollo 11 mission failed? The speech, “In Event of Moon Disaster,” was written by William Safire (President Nixon’s speechwriter) and it was drafted in case the Apollo 11 astronauts become stranded on the moon.
Imagine looking up at the moon and knowing that three brave astronauts were stranded there forever, looking back down at Earth.
Thankfully, the mission was a success, though the speech written for an alternate timeline was eventually lost to history. So if you’re free, I recommend you read through it (it’s short, about 1 ½ pages) and experience an event that could’ve happened.
