Weather of the Week:
The weather this week is a sunny yet December week as the days will only hit temperatures in the upper 30s to mid-40s. The weekend into next week is of interest, as a strong cold front is showing up on weather models, bringing severe weather to the south and potentially a snowstorm in our region. It’s too early to say for sure this will happen and we don’t know when this could strike if it does.
What’s Going on in the Weather World?:
As we enter the winter season across the US, here in the north with snow and in the south, thunderstorms; We need to address the main problems with information. There is an ongoing worrying trend of misinformation during events like tornado outbreaks and snowstorms. And with AI becoming better at looking real, this threatens the work of storm chasers and news sources. Without some restrictions, we won’t know what’s real and what’s AI. To tackle misinformation and AI, get your weather (and information in general) from confirmed safe sources.
For weather information, look on the National Weather Service website (Weather.gov). For our area, our NWS office is in Boston. And to tackle AI, follow well-known chasers for the utmost realism in storms. Chasers like Reed Timmer, are famous for making the “Dominators”. The dominators are a literal tank, capable of withstanding tornadic winds.
