Weather Story of the Week:
Hurricane Sandy was 11 years ago this past Sunday. Despite making landfall as a Category 1 hurricane (74-95 mph) in New Jersey, it caused major impacts from all over the East Coast. It is the largest hurricane to ever impact the Atlantic basin. Winds over 40 mph (Tropical Storm force winds) were felt around Sandy’s 1,150-mile size. From Florida to Maine, State of Emergencies were in effect and millions across the east coast had no power for weeks on end.
