Not Monday… Not Tuesday… All Wednesday

Tim Burton’s chillingly cool twist on the beloved character

The new show “Wednesday” dropped on Netflix on November 23, 2022 and has since taken the industry by storm. Based on the visions of director Tim Burton, the show dives deep into the struggles of 16 year-old Wednesday Addams as she navigates life at her new school Nevermore Academy. Wednesday, played by Jenna Ortega, has been brought to life through this new series in a magnificently unsettling way. Ortega portrays Wednesday as an insensitive, disconnected, and strange outsider to many of her fellow peers. However, on the inside Wednesday is trying her best to train her psychic abilities to aid her in solving a mystery. As Wednesday continues to investigate she finds many secrets to her school history including the possible involvement of her parents in a murder mystery nearly 30 years ago. Throughout the series, Ortega stars alongside Catherine Zeta-Jones (Morticia Addams), Christina Ricci (Marilyn Thornhill), and Emma Meyers (Enid Sinclair) just to name a few. “Wednesday” was so successful that it broke records for most hours viewed in a week on Netflix. This surpassed the previous record of Stranger Things season four, totaling 335.01 million hours viewed. With all things considered, between the cast, twisted atmosphere, and curious plot, the show is definitely worth checking out for you next night in.
