Weather of the Week
The weather pick of the week was Tuesday, with a high in the 70s before a 10-degree cooldown hit us on Wednesday. It will gradually warm up on Thursday, and then we will have highs approaching 80 degrees on Friday. Also, we are tracking the potential for some severe weather possibly starting Friday afternoon and continuing into Saturday evening.
What’s Going on in the Weather World?
So hopefully, we get a couple of good thunderstorms this weekend, but for many, the beginning of May is the time to prepare for the Northeast storm season. This is the time for us storm chasers to make sure our equipment is in order and that it works properly. It is not enjoyable storm chasing in Vermont without viable cell service, as you are literally in the sticks. If you are thinking of chasing New England’s wild spring and summertime weather, a storm is NOT worth your life. Protect yourself from storms. If you want to chase safely, try chasing near farmland or open areas. I can vouch by experience that chasing in the forest is boring and incredibly dangerous. I was within a six-to-seven car convoy in June 2024 in the Green Mountains. We had no cell service and didn’t know until we reached civilization that we were in a tornado warning. Especially new chasers, that is deadly territory. You need to stay in an open spot and inside your vehicle during thunderstorms.
