Minnechaug’s 3v3 basketball tournament took place once again extending throughout the week and ending on Thursday, November 21st. Many kids within the school got together with their friends and peers to sharpen their basketball skills or to just have a good time.
Competition rose when teams started a rivalry within the groups. This caused students to be excited to participate, and even a couple of team-less students came to witness the fun! I feel like as a teenager in today’s society kids tend to be crowded with homework, and are likely to associate stress with their schools.
Activities where kids are excited to be at school and are able to have a break from society’s pressure of being a model student, are important to the mental health of young adults. Caden Russ, an “athlete” from the team by the name of Khalil Prep says, “It’s good for kids to get out there, competition is healthy for students.”
This event was a huge success especially within the Freshman Class of 2028 with multiple teams of 5-15 players on each just for a 3v3! The final score was that Khalil Prep beat the Hawks in the winners’ bracket securing their first-place position.
Kaelyn Dionne, a freshman from the winning team says, “I really appreciated going out of my comfort zone to play with my peers because it enabled me to work on my sportsmanship and I got to create some new bonds. I feel it was a great way to have fun and try something new even if I’m not the best at it. I got to play with some of my friends and enjoy myself!”
