The homecoming football game at Minnechaug is highly celebrated. Along with having a whole spirit week leading up to the game, Minnechaug also has an in school pep rally, then a dance following the homecoming game.

But what is the Falcon Fest?

Falcon Fest is an in school pep rally that is held the same day as Minnechaug’s homecoming football game.  The significance of it is to celebrate Minnechaug and to get everyone excited about the football game and the homecoming dance that will be held after the homecoming game.

Falcon Fest hosts a variety of short games that students can participate in and all the different clubs at Chaug walk across the football field holding posters to promote their clubs. Students of all grades are able to participate in the games and if someone in your graduating class wins a game, that victory leads to points toward the class cup for your grade.

While Falcon Fest is a loved event by Minnechaug staff and students, many ask “What impact does Falcon Fest have on Minnechaug as a whole?”

Falcon Fest promotes school spirit. Minnechaug does a superior job at enhancing school spirit which leads to the students feeling more connected to their school. From the Student Council deciding what spirit week themes we should have, to the students being able to participate in the Falcon Fest games, Minnechaug thrives with the promoting of school spirit. Each year, teachers who have done an outstanding job get nominated for the “Teacher of the Year Award.”  From there, Student Council does an anonymous vote, the votes are then tallied and whatever teacher has the most votes wins the “Teacher of the Year Award.” Falcon Fest not only celebrates the Students of Minnechaug, it also expresses its appreciation for teachers who have helped make Minnechaug such an enjoyable environment.

Falcon Fest is a celebration of Minnechaug as a whole by promoting school spirit, showing appreciation for clubs, celebrating teachers and staff, and hosting games that lead to friendly competition.
